The former Governor of Abia
State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, and the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Oladunni
Oyewumi Ajagungbade 111, have both described the death of Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero as a big blow and a painful loss to the nation.
In a condolence
message signed by his Special Adviser, Prince ‘Kunle Oyewumi, Friday,
Kalu said the late Emir was an exceptional monarch whose exemplary
leadership remains a legacy worthy of emulation.
According to Kalu, the late Emir dedicated his life to humanity and his memory will linger forever in the hearts of peace loving Nigerians.
“He was a father to all, irrespective of religion, tribe, age, social and political divides,” Kalu recalled mournfully.
Also in a statement from Ogbomoso
palace, signed by Toyin Ajamu, Oba Oyewumi, in his own part, said he was
disturbed when the news of the Emir’s demise filtered into town.
Oba Oyewumi who described the late Emir
as an outstanding monarch, whose reign in Kano State witnessed giant
development, added that he was loved by many irrespective of tribe, age
and religion.
“The Late Emir of Kano lived an
accomplished life dedicated to God and humanity. My prayers and thoughts
are with his family at this sorrowful time,” he said.
Kalu however, corroborated, Oba
Oyewumi’s tribute to the late Emir, saying he was instrumental to the
development of Kano State as he worked tirelessly with successive
governments in the State to ensure the development of the State known as
the Centre of Commerce.
The former governor and the traditional
ruler however, encouraged the family of the late Emir to take solace in
the fact that the deceased contributed immensely to the growth and
development of the nation and lived a consummate life.
They both sympathized with the people
and government of Kano State, the Kano Emirate Council and members of
the deceased’s family and asked the Almighty Allah to grant them the
fortitude to bear the loss.
Kalu, however, specifically prayed God to grant the late paramount ruler eternal rest.
