The former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Kalu,
has described the month of Ramadan as a special season of blessing and
recompense for sacrifice and thereby wishes the Muslim community
soul-lifting piety with the commencement of 2014 Ramadan.
Kalu, in a goodwill message issued by his Special Adviser, Prince ‘Kunle Oyewumi, Thursday, Kalu said he felicitate with the Muslim brothers and sisters on the commencement of the mandatory annual fasting.
According to Kalu, Ramadan is a season of self-denial, atonement, humility, forgiveness, love and togetherness.
Kalu, however wished every Muslim a fulfilled Ramadan and prayed that Allah, the merciful, will grant the nation the reward of the holy month.
The former governor also called for prayers for peace, unity and tranquility in the country, urging the Muslim faithful to see the season as a period of sober reflection as individuals and as a nation, by imbibing the teachings and lessons of Quran.
Kalu further used the opportunity to warn the perpetrators of terrorism menacing the nation to desist from the dreadful act in the interest of national and global peace and called on the federal government to double its efforts for the release of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls.
